“Back-bending asanas are an incredible tool to keep the spine supple and healthy. The spine houses our nerve core. By keeping it flexible, we allow cleaner pathways for the nerve signals to travel. Find the joy of backwards bending. Feel the exhilaration from Iran’s flowing in the key and the heart opening as the sound arches. Rejoice in the opening of your heart!”

Why don’t we hold Mysore classes on the new moon or the full moon?
Taking rest from the regular asana practice on moon days (tithis) has long been a tradition in Ashtanga Yoga. These are auspicious days, and the tradition asserts that our bodies and mental state are affected by the phases of the moon.
This is a perfect time to allow your body to rest and regenerate while delving into other aspects of yoga besides asana such as pranayama, chanting, and study of the yamas & niyamas.
Tomorrow is the full phone, so Mysore at 6am will be canceled as usual. All other classes remain the same. Enjoy your rest! 🌙 .

Here is a challenge for your practice today ... feel the connection between your fingers and toes! Place a mental focus on the resistance between the two. How are they interacting with each other? Does this resistance create more stability? Have fun playing with the energy between them.
